Inclusive Exterior and Interior Design is the common denominator and intersection of landscape and garden architecture and furniture and residential design. Inclusive exterior and interior design represents universal design for all, accessible and usable by the widest possible range of people, with a deep understanding of user diversity, taking into account their varied aspirations, needs, and abilities.

Within inclusive design, the active involvement of future users and stakeholders in the creative process is essential, following the principles of participatory planning and co-design. The doctoral study program focuses on research in inclusive exterior and interior design, allowing students to choose a specialization in either interior or exterior design.

Students specializing in exterior spaces can focus their dissertation research on various types of exterior environments (e.g., public spaces, designated areas, private residential spaces) and investigate approaches, aspects, and attributes of inclusivity (e.g., landscape democracy, participatory planning, co-design, design for disadvantaged user groups, etc.). The integration of landscape architecture and design occurs at the intersection of spatial composition and the design of exterior furniture and vegetative elements.
