The Sustainable Agriculture study program prepares professionals who combine modern food production with responsible management of natural resources. Graduates gain interdisciplinary knowledge of agroecology, crop and livestock production, precision agriculture, management, and environmental protection. They learn to plan and manage agricultural systems efficiently, use digital technologies and data-driven tools, and design solutions responding to climate change. The program opens career opportunities in agricultural practice, consulting, research, public administration, NGOs, and rural development, with a strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and resilience.

GRADUATE'S EMPLOYABILITY

 

A graduate of the master study in the field of sustainable agriculture will find employment in a wide range of areas where emphasis is placed on ecologically responsible and efficient management of natural resources. He/she can work as a manager and executive in all types of business entities in the ministry of agriculture, a specialized expert in agricultural enterprises focused on crop production and livestock production, an agri-entrepreneur, an advisor for organic and precision agriculture, or as a specialist in agricultural and environmental institutions of state administration and self-government. It can also be used in the non-profit sector in the creation and implementation of policies and projects in the field of agriculture and landscape protection, in rural and regional development institutions, regional environmental agencies, in scientific research and educational institutions, and in consulting for sustainable management. Thanks to their interdisciplinary knowledge, they are able to lead projects aimed at adapting agriculture to climate change and increasing the resilience of rural areas. 

II. LEVEL OF STUDY (ENGINEERING)

Applicant must submit the E-application form to study at SUA through the university’s designated portal or send the completed form via email to the Vice-Dean for International Affairs of the respective faculty or the Contact Person for Foreign Affairs

General information about admission

Applicants must submit by July 10, 2026 (in the event that the state examination for the first cycle is held at a later date, even after July 10, 2026, but as soon as possible after receiving it) a certified copy of their diploma, transcript, and  supplement  from their bachelor’s degree program (only for applicants from another university or another faculty at SPU in Nitra). If the documents certifying completion of the bachelor’s program do not include a diploma supplement, a transcript of grades certified by the university must also be submitted.

For study programs conducted in English, applicants must send a certified copy of their English language certificate (at the B2 level according to the CEFR) to the Admissions Office.

We also accept the following certificates for admission: IELTS, TOEFL, and Cambridge:

–    IELTS: We accept scores of 5.5 or higher in each section (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking),

–    TOEFL: We accept iBT (online) scores of 80-90 and PBT (paper-based test) scores of 550-575,

–    Cambridge: We accept a minimum level of B2.

In addition, they will upload the following attachments to the UIS:

  • Grades for courses from the 1st through 3rd years, or the 4th year, of the bachelor’s program. If the home university uses a grading system other than the “ECTS grade system,” an officially certified transcript converted to this system must be sent to the Admissions Office.
  • Grades from the bachelor’s degree state examination.
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • For international applicants from non-EU countries, a copy of the passport (the page with the photo and personal information; the second and third pages of the passport).

The applicant’s personal data (first name, last name, birth number, address, etc.) will be used in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act No. 18/2018 Coll. solely for the purposes of the admissions process and may not be disclosed for any other purposes.

The admissions process for the second degree of university studies at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences (FAPZ) of the Slovak University of Agriculture (SPU) in Nitra will take place without the applicants being present. After all the required materials have been uploaded to the online application, a decision regarding the applicant’s conditional admission will be sent electronically to the applicant’s email address.

An applicant who is admitted to a study programme is required to inform the faculty whether they will enrol in the programme in accordance with the instructions they receive in writing along with the admission decision (the electronic reply form is included with the decision).

 

BASIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The basic requirement for admission to a master’s program is the completion of a bachelor’s program and the successful passing of the state examination.

ADDITIONAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • The relevance or connection of the study program to the completed bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicants for master’s degree programs who have successfully completed their bachelor’s degree will be admitted based on their academic performance during their undergraduate studies, their results on the state examination, or their active participation in the Student Research Conference. They will be placed on a waiting list based on points earned according to the Evaluation Criteria for Applicants to Second-Cycle Study Programs (Appendix), with a minimum of 10 points required for admission to the second cycle of study.

The faculty reserves the right not to offer a study programme if the number of applicants is too low. In such cases, the faculty will offer applicants an alternative accredited study programme.
